Social advertizing in Russian Federation makes Russians better
Social promotion is not so popular in former Soviet Union as it may seem. Even in 1980s social advertizing took significant place in usual life. All Russian citizens who lived in those years remember social posters and television spots where messages of liability were declared. The following texts were very popular: “Save Soviet nature, it’s our motherhood”, “Matches are not toys for boys” etc. All those social ads were supported by the government and made by official institutions. At the moment everything has changed and we can find many various social advertising which is sponsored by Russian government, non-governmental organizations and private persons. Much money is spent every week on various social campaigns which are created by popular media campaigns with video spots, social booklets, logos etc.
A lot of international organizations work on the territory of former Soviet Union and lots of social advertisments from all over the world can ve found now in former Soviet Union. I am sure that it is really good as we have a unique opportunity to use best world experience in the field of social advertizing as our own traditions in this area are very weak but we have a great deal of thoughts and creative people who can make all them true. That’s why various competitions of social promotion are so popular nowadays in former Soviet Union and a lot of professional advertising firms took an active part in such kind of events and if you enter YouTube you can find lots of social spots shooted by the leading local companies but sometimes the visualization of social ideas leaves much to be desired. Still there are quite a lot of interesting social advertisements on tobacco addiction and other problems. But of course, we should always remember about the current situation in the country and the main problems which the government has to sort out. One of such difficulties is demographic decrease as too many people die in former Soviet Union and they know that they should force people to give more births. As an example of social promotion which concentrated on demographic difficulties we can state on social posters which were placed in Moscow subway with a woman with three boys on her knees. This post gives more questions rather than gives answers as there is no man on this poster and the woman looks sad.
I think that social advertizing in former Soviet Union just starts its way and in the nearest future we will see lots of great examples of TV spots and social posters as well as complicated social campaigns.
